The Christian Help Center of Person County

The Christian Help Center of Person County is an ecumenical Christian organization founded on the belief that Jesus Christ is Lord. Their mission is in response to Matthew 25:35-36: "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me." The Christian Help Center provides lunch in the soup kitchen, provides and packages fresh produce for the food pantry, and serves as mentors for folks working their way out of poverty through the Success Initiative.

Backpack Pals

Backpack Pals is a program from the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina which serves the food insecure children of Person County and surrounding areas. It is designed to provide weekend meals during the school year for these children when school lunches, which can be their only substantial meal of the day, are unavailable. Salem Church has taken responsibility for Oak Lane Elementary School’s Backpack Pals program.

Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 20 years. Since 1998, the organization has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world. Rise Against Hunger is growing a global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to emergencies.

Indian Mobile Mission, Inc.

Indian Mobile Mission, Inc. is a Christian outreach to the Navajo people of Northern Arizona that has been working for over 40 years. IMM strives to bring knowledge of Jesus Christ and his love to the Navajo people, believes that helping children complete their education will enhance their lives, helps sponsor at-risk children who have no family support, and counsels individuals and families in their responsibilities to each other. IMM receives school supplies, school clothes, shoes, and special gifts throughout the year.
